Lincoln, MA
Architect: Hart Associates
Project Size: 8,500 SF
Construction Duration: 17 months
Connaughton Construction, a custom home builder for over 30 years, recently completed the restoration of this 100+-year-old home to its original grandeur, renovating the main house (3300 SF) and removing two old additions to make room for two new additions (5200 SF). Because the house was occupied during construction, the work had to be phased accordingly to minimize the impact on the owners.

The project featured re-wiring the original house, replacing all plumbing and bathrooms, installing a new Unico (high velocity) air conditioning system to retain the ceiling heights and moldings, adding a new three-sided bay with a window seat in the dining room, and replacing all siding and exterior trim with custom millwork to match the existing wood species and profiles.
The new additions feature a family room with a split stone fireplace, a custom kitchen and breakfast room, a first-floor study, and second-floor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dressing rooms.
High-end luxury finishes include custom cabinetry, quarter saw oak wood floors, marble and granite tile, and radiant heated floors in the kitchen and master bedroom. A 10-foot-deep foundation was excavated out of the ledge to add a basement, exercise, and playrooms.
Additionally, the original 100-year-old barn was renovated and restored and is now used as a garage.
